Rachel Tober, Registered Psychologist
Rachel Tober is an assessment psychologist with a strong focus on helping individuals and families gain clarity, understanding, and direction through psychological assessment. She conducts comprehensive evaluations for children, teens, and adults to explore learning, attention, emotional, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental concerns, including ADHD, learning disorders, giftedness, and autism.
Rachel believes that assessment is not just about scores or diagnoses, but about understanding the whole person. She takes a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and is mindful of the emotional experience that often accompanies the assessment process. Her goal is for clients to feel supported, respected, and empowered every step of the way.
Rachel’s reports are geared towards being clear, practical, and individualized. She places strong emphasis on providing actionable recommendations that help clients advocate for appropriate supports and move forward with confidence.

Assessment Types
-

Psychoeducational
Psychological evaluations pinpoint both strong and weak aspects within a student's learning profile, addressing inquiries regarding cognitive, educational, social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive capabilities. These evaluations are commonly administered to individuals across various age groups, spanning from young children to adults (Kindergarten to Grade 12).
-

Autism (ASD)
A Social-Emotional evaluation is carried out with the purpose of gaining deeper insight into an individual's internal experiences by delving into their emotions, thoughts, coping strategies, and perceptions of both themselves and the world around them. This type of assessment is advised when an individual displays emotional challenges (like anxiety or depression) or behavioral concerns.
-

ADHD
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition characterized by a persistent struggle to manage attention, emotions, and conduct. ADHD is characterized by three primary behaviors: inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Challenges with concentration, organization, patience, self-discipline, and possibly weak social abilities can persist into adulthood.
-

Gifted
Giftedness is recognized when a child's intellectual capacity (as measured by FSIQ or General Ability Index, GAI) falls within the range of 130 (+/- 5). Assessing giftedness is valuable in establishing whether a child meets the criteria for participation in specialized educational initiatives designed for those identified as gifted.
-

School Admissions
Several private schools in Calgary, such as Rundle Academy, Webber Academy, Calgary Academy, and Foothills Academy, might request potential applicants to undergo a psychoeducational assessment as a component of the application procedure. We can furnish you with these assessment outcomes if needed.
