Individuals
Nick has spent 15 years supporting military members, first responders, and uniformed personnel, including time as a wildland firefighter and as a civilian contractor with the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy and Army) deploying overseas. That work gave him firsthand understanding of operational stress, high-stakes decision-making, and the cultural demands placed on people whose jobs require them to stay composed under pressure.
He specializes in working with military personnel, first responders, and uniformed service members navigating chronic stress, performance pressure, PTSD, identity shifts during career transitions, and the specific weight of professions that require you to keep functioning no matter what. Many of his clients are dedicated, high-performing individuals who appear capable and composed on the outside while quietly carrying the toll of years of operational stress.
Alongside his clinical training, Nick holds a Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion and is a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer, which informs his integrated approach to mental and physical wellbeing.
Nicks’s Approach.
Nick's work is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from cognitive behavioural approaches and person-centered care, with an emphasis on understanding how your goals, relationships, and sense of purpose shape your mental health. His approach is grounded in the understanding that mental health can't be separated from the body, particularly for clients whose work is physically demanding or whose stress lives in the nervous system.
His fitness and lifestyle expertise lets him address the connection between physical health, movement, sleep, and psychological wellbeing directly. For many of his clients, that integration is what makes the work land, particularly for those coming from high-performance physical environments where the body and mind have to function together.
What it’s like to work with Nick.
Sessions with Nick feel direct, grounded, and practical, balanced with real empathy and an open sense of humour. He offers a culturally informed space where you don't have to filter your reality, translate your job, or explain the demands of uniformed service to someone who has never seen it up close.
There is a clear sense of collaboration in the work. You're not left circling the same issues or speaking in clinical jargon. Sessions focus on understanding what's actually holding you back, working through it, and building real-world resilience that translates back to the demands of your work.
Therapy with Nick is designed for capable, high-functioning people who are stuck, not from lack of effort, but because they need a therapist who genuinely understands the environments they operate in.
Personal Note
Outside the office, Nick stays busy keeping up with his young family. Staying active is a core part of his own daily routine, whether that means running with a stroller, playing disc golf, playing recreational ice hockey, or training at home. He firmly believes in the mind-body connection and aims to practice the same lifestyle balance, movement, and resilience-building strategies he shares with his clients.
